Tae Kwon Do

Definition of TaeKwonDo

"Tae" means "foot" or "to strike with the feet". "Kwon" means "hand", or "to strike with the hand". "Do" means discipline, art, or way. Hence TaeKwonDo (foot-hand-way) means literally "the art of the feet and the hands" or "the art of kicking and punching". Different schools and/or styles may impose different variations on the formal definition however. For example, some styles add the words "self defense" to the literal definition and/or throw in some form of the phrase "physical and mental training".

Tae Kwon Do is more than just a sport to me it’s been a part of my life from the very very  very young age of “set” that is the Korean word for saying 3. I was 3 years old when tae kwon do was introduced into my life. I have invested 20 years into this sport and I’m still continuing the practice of this sport (I’m currently holding a Second Degree Black Belt). It’s funny the reason my parents signed me up for tea kwon do was to keep me occupied and to learn discipline as a child because I was a very hyper active child, but as I grew older the sport became more interesting to me. As I grew in the sport I was very interested in to other martial arts, but the biggest influence besides my parents and family was by far the greatest ever martial artist and creator of his own style of martial art “Jeet Kune
Do”, Bruce Lee.
